Electrical panel upgrades in Yakima and Ellensburg
We swap the whole panel in one day and handle the power company disconnect, the reconnect and the L&I inspection ourselves.
Chapter 01
Signs it is time for a new panel
Do your lights flicker or dim when you plug things in? Do you often have to deal with breakers tripping? Do you have an outdated or faulty panel? It is probably time for an electrical panel upgrade, and Wattsmart Electric LLC is the smart choice for residents of the Yakima Valley and Ellensburg.
A breaker that keeps tripping is the panel telling you the circuits are overloaded. Lights that dim when something big kicks on are the same story from the other side. Add a charger, a hot tub or a remodel to a house with a worn-out panel and the problem only gets bigger.
Age matters too. If your home was built before 1978, you may be at greater risk. Zinsco and Federal Pacific Electrical Co. (FPE) were two of the most common manufacturers of circuit breaker panels in North America from the 1940's to the 1980's. Murray and Sylvania brand panels are considered unsafe as well.

The one-day swap, step by step
We will complete your electrical panel replacement from start to finish in one day, and we will handle all the coordination between the power company and the service inspection. Here is how our hassle-free process runs. First, we give you a detailed quote. Second, we coordinate with the power company to get a work request for a temporary disconnect started. Third, we communicate and schedule the disconnect with the local power company.
On the day, our electricians start taking apart your current panel. Once power is disconnected, we finish replacing the panel, which is what makes a same-day reconnect possible. The new panel is assembled and grounded properly, then we coordinate with the power company linemen to reconnect power.
The last step is the one most homeowners never want to chase. We also coordinate the inspection with L&I, so the service is properly inspected and meets all safety standards. You do not have to call anyone but us.
Chapter 03
After the swap
When the linemen reconnect your power, the house is back on a panel that fits what you run today, with room for the loads you add next. A tripping breaker is no longer a mystery you live with.
A new panel is also what most other projects start from. If a Tesla Wall Connector, a generator and transfer switch, a swimming pool or hot tub circuit, or a remodel is in your plans, call (509) 902-8040 and we can line the work up around the same service.
Wattsmart Electric LLC is licensed, bonded and insured (WA L&I electrical contractor WATTSE*851BK). Call (509) 902-8040 and we will quote your panel swap in Yakima, Selah or Ellensburg.
Before we replace them
Does your panel look like this?

Zinsco panels are prone to arcing and should be replaced.
Federal Pacific Electrical Co. (FPE) made some of the most common panels of the 1940's to the 1980's.
An older panel we have replaced.
Two more names to watch for: Murray brand panels are considered unsafe, and so are Sylvania brand panels. If the label on your panel door says Zinsco, Federal Pacific, Murray or Sylvania, call us.
